SERIES: TOWNS AND TEMPLES

This series began with gestural lines much in the same way as the Spirit series. The lines in both series seem calligraphic, not unlike a kind of archaic, mysterious writing. Because I am accustomed to painting with circular motions (as opposed to sharp lines and boxes), creating these felt like I was actually building with blocks of color and line. The overall feeling conveys boldness and solidity. I can attribute my husband's one man rock band rehearsals as an outside influence of this series, as I was listening to him much of the time. It's a very energetic style but still somewhat meditative.
